Arsenal Have Rogers In Sight In Search For English Speaking Manager

Arsenal’s governing board are desperate to secure the services of an English speaking and British manager after sacking two successive foreigners as managers.

Sources say that the club is looking towards Leicester City manager, Brendan Rogers, as one of its favourites as a permanent replacement for dismissed Unai Emery.

It would, however, not be an easy decision for the Leicester City coach who has guided his present club to the number two position in the English premier league.

Besides, any exit by Rogers will have to trigger a £14million release clause that is contained in Rogers’ contract.

However, for the records Rogers is parading including an undefeated stint at Celtic and a number two spot on the English premier league, that may not be a problem for Arsenal.

The two last coaches of Arsenal, Arsene Wenger and Emery were imported from abroad. Besides his Invincible story of the nineties, Wenger’s overall average record of 57.25% falls short of his Irish predecessor, Pat Rice, who, however, only took the club through four matches.

Spanish born Emery struggled with English as a medium of communication.

Rodgers was said to be pushing off the speculations of a switch to Arsenal saying that he was comfortable with the lads at Leicester City.

‘If you are doing okay people want to take you away from something you enjoy. If you’re not, it doesn’t matter.

‘There’s always a number of names. ‘We’re at the beginning of something here. My relationship with the people here and the players is very strong. We think we are starting something exciting,” he was quoted as telling the Telegraph.

‘Arsenal is a fantastic club. One of the greats in this country. If the people at Arsenal have moved Unai on, I’m sure they have an idea of who they want to bring in.

‘There’s disappointment whenever a coach loses his job. Unai has proved himself over a number of years. I have sympathy for him.’
