Senator-elect representing Kogi West Senatorial Constituency, Smart Adeyemi has described his political rival from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Dino Melaye as a misnomer whose stewardship in the Senate was an embarrassing eyesore to uprightness.

Speaking on Channels Television on Sunday night, Adeyemi claimed that the representation of Melaye in the Senate can be characterized by rascality, show of materialism and disregard for the president.

According to him, “Nigerians do not deserve people like Dino in the Upper chamber.”

Commenting on the statement ascribed to Dino, doubting his (Adeyemi) competency in the Senate, Adeyemi stated that he led the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), two-term, as the National President and sponsored several bills during his previous stint in the Senate.

He further stated that Dino did not have any track record of service and only emerged as a Senator through fraudulent  means, stressing that the people of Kogi state do not deserve the rascality of Dino as their representative.

“You can be a good politician without insulting the president, Dino is a manifestation of societal deficiencies and it is unfortunate for the people of Kogi state to have someone like Dino as their representative,” he stated.

He further assured the people of Kogi West Senatorial District of quality of representation in the Senate, noting that he won the just concluded rerun election due to his previous achievements in the Senate.

“I am sure that no Nigerian will like to have Dino as his senator. May Nigeria not have somebody like Dino again as a senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Dino is an unfortunate development and a manifestation of an unfortunate development in our system.

“Dino has never worked anywhere before, how can he claim to be in politics before me and that I came from nowhere. I was national president of a profession, (Nigerian Union of Journalists) he was national president of touts on the streets of Abuja.

“It is unfortunate that people like Dino can become senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” he said.
