International business mogul, Captain Hosa Wells Okunbo has denied knowledge of an attack on Ms Hadiza Bala Usman, managing director of the Nigerian Ports Authority saying that her allegation against him was part of a plot to derail from the substance of the issues between his company and the NPA.

Responding to a petition articulated by Ms Usman to the President of the Senate, Senator Ahmad Lawan in which she blamed Captain Hosa for sponsoring the attack on her in the National Assembly premises, the business mogul said he was not even aware of an attack on her.

Ms Usman had claimed that hoodlums had attacked her when she came to the Senate over the probe on the issue relating to her decision on Captain Hosa’s company, Ocean Marine Solutions Limited (OMSL).

She said she had to take refuge in the office of Senator Danjuma Goje before the hoodlums were removed.

But denying knowledge or  a role in the attack, the management of Ocean Maritime Solutions Limited (OMSL), responding through a statement issued by Commodore Chuma Adogu (rtd) said Captain Okunbo could not have been involved in any such action given his well known position in society.

He said: “On the day of the investigation at the National Assembly, we came like other invited organisations and we never came with any thug or rented crowd to harass anybody, much less the Managing Director of NPA.

“The security at the premises of the National Assembly was very tight as everybody was routinely checked and controlled while entering, thus forestalling any rented crowd or thugs from gaining entrance.

“We came before the panel and presented our position in the SAA without nursing hatred against anyone.

“Let me make it clear to the Nigerian public that OMSL is a responsible corporate organisation with a lot of Nigerians working as its employees.

“We are mindful of this and never can we trade it away.

“I repeat, we do not have a hand nor did our chairman sponsor any group of thugs to attack Ms. Hadiza Bala Usman.

“We see this as part of the attempts to discredit OMS and distract attention from the main issue, which is already with the Senate.”
