Agitations for the inauguration of the Pius Odubu led board of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC were yesterday effectively squashed after President Muhammadu Buhari affirmed that the board would be reconstituted after the ongoing forensic audit.
The president by his assertion dismissed the agitations of those calling for the inauguration of the board which had been approved by the Senate. No reason was given for the president’s assertion in a statement issued by his spokesman, Chief Femi Adesina.
However, there have been various contentions as to the fact that the chairmanship of the board was removed from Delta State among other claims.
Putting a lid to the agitation the president in a statement on Thursday said:
“The President has also directed that the Interim Management Team of the NDDC shall be in place till the forensic is completed, and that the supervision of the Commission shall remain under the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs.”
