2023: PDP BoT Chair Petitions Police Over Threats From Atiku’s Supporters
The Chairman, Board of Trustees (BoT) of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Walid Jibrin, has petitioned the police over threats to his life from alleged sympathisers of Atiku Abubakar over his support for an open primary contest in 2023.
In the petition copied to the Department of State Services (DSS), Senator Jibrin said that his comment that the party should not zone the 2023 presidential ticket had drawn strong reaction from people he claimed were supportive of another bid by Atiku.
“I have received calls from some people threatening my life over my coming out not to mention that the presidency of this country be zoned to the Northeast,” Jibrin told newsmen in Kaduna on Thursday.
“They were saying that I am a traitor, that I should have come out to say that it is only Atiku Abubakar, that because I said that Atiku was already overthrown by the Supreme Court. They said for that, I should say Atiku is the man.”
