Group Raises Alarm Over Blackmail Plot Against Ugwuanyi Over Council Polls

Enugu Youth Coalition said Tuesday has uncovered plots by some over-ambitious politicians to blackmail the state government over the forthcoming Local Government Elections in the state.

In a statement released to newsmen in Enugu by the National Coordinator of the Coalition, Dr. Edwin Obune, the group noted that credible intelligence at it’s disposal shows that some over-ambitious politicians are planning to blackmail the family of the state governor, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi as well as his close political associates concerning the coming council polls in the state.

The statement further noted that instead of going to prepare for the coming party primaries as contained in the State Independent Electoral Commission’s guidelines, the politicians resorted to attacking the governor and members of his family in a bid to distract the government from delivering on it’s campaign promises to the people.

The group urged Ndi-Enugu and all lovers of Enugu state politics to be wary of the antics of these folks in the coming days and never to fall victim to their plots.

“The attempt to invent a non-existing factor for political expedience ahead of the coming polls is a futile effort that is bound to fail,” the group posited in a statement.

“Ndi-Enugu are too enlightened and sophisticated to be hoodwinked by the antics of these political chicaneries in the state.

“We therefore warn those involved in the plot to backtrack and seek forgiveness from God because Enugu State is in the Hands of God.”
