Ex-Most Beautiful Girl In Nigeria Speaks On Loving People

Anita Ukah, the immediate past holder of the Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria (MBGN) title, has urged philanthropists and corporate organisations to demonstrate love to the needy in the society.

Ukah told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday that the well-to-do citizens should be involved in charity regularly as there were always those in needs.

She added that it was also for the common good of all because the needy are part of the society.

“It is a common thing in our society that we have the needy around us, be it individuals or families that need some forms of assistance for them to survive.

“Several individuals and NGOs carried out charitable works during the festive period and I am sure that those that benefited from such gestures would still be happy.

“The point I am driving at is that it should be a lifestyle or a habit formed instead of doing it just at Christmas or during New Year celebrations.

“Sometimes, it may not be big but the little you do will go a long way to ease the burdens of the needy and make them feel loved and cared for,” she said.

She said that between 2018 and 2019 when she reigned as the MBGN, she focused on providing healthcare and education to several needy Nigerians across the country.

She said that she; her team, some volunteers and some NGOs paid the hospital bills for some mothers who had been delivered of their new born children.

She said that after their deliveries, they could not pay their bills.

“Also, my team and I visited some hospitals in Mushin area of Lagos, renovated a primary school building as part of my charity works.

“We also did that to positively affect the lives of the citizens.

“In Abuja, we organised free medical checkups, donated drugs, clothing, food and sanitary towels to the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) at their camp in Durumi.

“That was one of the notable projects I carried out with the assistance of the medical laboratory team at the National Assembly clinic and some volunteers,” the queen said.

The graduate of Laboratory Science from Igbinedion University, Okada, said, “I hope to impact on more lives than I had already done’’.
