Miyetti Allah Takes Major Decisions To Stem Farmers, Herdsmen Crises
By Ayodele Oluwafemi
The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, MACBAN, has placed a ban on night grazing by cattle nationwide, in a bid to put an end to farmers and herders crisis.
MACBAN noted that it is essential that some serious measures are taken to put an end to the persistent crisis between herdsmen and farmers across the country.
This was made known by the group’s National Secretary, Baba Uthman, while addressing journalists after the association’s Annual General Meeting in Damaturu, Yobe State.
Uthman noted that the decision would be communicated to every member of the group, including those at the grassroots, while disclosing that a ban has been placed on grazing by minors and hawking of milk by teenage girls.
Uthman said these are the causes of cultural abuse and poses dangers to the underage.
He said: “This is a decision that has been taken by the highest decision-making body of the association. As it is taken here, it will go down the ladder down to our members at the grassroots, they will be informed and sensitised concerning it.”
