Rangers International Talks Tough Ahead Of CAF Cracker
Rangers International FC of Enugu and Nuoadhibuo FC of Mauritania on Saturday talked tough, expressing their resolve to win the Confederation Cup group A matchday four clash in Enugu.
The Flying Antelopes are without a win in their CAF Confederation Cup, group match where they played goalless away to Nuoadhibuo.
They also lost to two Egyptian sides, 1-3 to Pyramids in Enugu and 4-2 to Al Masry in Cairo.
Addressing sports journalists in Enugu on Saturday, Rangers FC coach and Nuoadhibuo FC coach, expressed their beliefs that a win on Sunday would brighten their chances in the group.
According to Rangers coach, Salisu Yusuf, his team cannot toil with the match as the visitors are not pushovers.
“As for Sunday’s match, we are prepared to win and that will brighten our chance of going beyond the group stage.
“It is unfortunate that a club like Rangers finds itself in the place.
“All we have is to win Nuoadhibuo on Sunday and take the game to other opponents in the league.
“We will keep fighting because it is not yet over until it is over and we want the final whistle in the last match of the group stage to determine our fate,” he said.
Similarly, team Captain, Okechukwu Odita, echoed his coach’s views when he said that the players would fight till the last match of the group stage.
He said that the players are now swimming in confidence following their recent victory in the Nigeria Professional Football League.
“Nuoadhibou is a good team and we find it difficult to stop them in Mauritania so we are ready to beat them and salvage our image from the previous woeful results,” Odita said.
Odita noted that Rangers has been playing well just that the results refused to come by.
Also, Nuoadhibuo FC coach, Mauril Njoya, said that his team come for victory and must dig deep for it.
“Although Rangers is a household name in continental competitions, we are not going to allow that to affect our play.
“You cannot tell what will happens in football until the 90th minute but we are hoping to have a good outing in the match.
“We are new to this stage of competition and that means we are not under pressure rather our host, Rangers, will be under pressure,” he said.
Their captain, Mahamane Cisse, said that the players would go for outright victory against Rangers on Sunday.
“We may be new to the competition but we are good to go as we survived the other stages to reach here.
”I hope we will smile home after the match as we need a win over Rangers or at least a point in the match, ” Cisse said.
