The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has come in defense of Hanan Buhari, a daughter of President Muhammadu Buhari, over the use of a presidential jet for personal duties,  noting that she passed a strong message to Nigerian girl-child on the need to eschew laziness.

Hanan sparked controversy, over the weekend, when she was spotted with the presidential jet in Bauchi State, during her photography duties in the state.

MURIC, in a statement, on Monday, signed by its director Ishaq Akintola, argued that the action of Hanan passed a strong message to the Nigerian girl-child by covering the durbar on the need to eschew laziness, saying that wailers ignored the message behind the coverage of durbar by Hanan.

Akintola described those who are against Hanan’s use of presidential jet as “petty, mean and most uncharitable”, saying that “After all, it was not for any frivolous jamboree like shopping in Dubai. We may want to ignore the excesses of past landlords of Aso Rock to justify PMB’s action.”

“Besides, that function passed a strong message to Nigerian youths, especially the Nigerian girl-child. It poses a challenge to them to eschew laziness. More importantly, it underlines the significance and relevance of every aspect of human knowledge. This is a very important message wailers missed.

“President Buhari should not be guillotined for permitting his daughter’s use of the jet. After all, it was not for any frivolous jamboree like shopping in Dubai. We may want to ignore the excesses of past landlords of Aso Rock to justify PMB’s action.

“It amounts to overzealousness on the part of critics to grab every little straw and make mountains out of molehills, they are simply trying to draw the attention of Nigerians away from PMB’s monumental achievements simply because they were merely looking for the president’s faults.”
