The Supreme Court has slated the judgment on the Kano state governorship election for January 30, following the March 9, 2019 election in the state.

The Apex court led by Justice Tanko Muhammad fixed the date for the judgment, after hearing the appeal filed by the Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate in the state, Kabir Abba-Yusuf, challenging the victory of the All Progressive Congress candidate, the incumbent governor,  Abdullabi Ganduje.

Recall that the Kano State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal and the Court of Appeal had dismissed the PDP’s petition while ruling in favour of the incumbent governor.

As a result, Abba-Yusuf approached the Apex court to overturn the decision of the lower court and affirm him as the winner of the March 9, governorship election in the state.
