By Ayodele Oluwafemi
Leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP present at the National Executive Committee, NEC meeting of the party have been speaking on the Supreme Court judgment that ousted the party from power in Imo State.
The national chairman of the party, Prince Uche Secondus said the party would organize a protest to tell Nigerians the injustices perpetuated by the APC-led Federal Government.
The PDP National Chairman said that the declaration of candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Chief Hope Uzodinma, as the Imo State Governor is a miscarriage of Justice.
He said though the ultimate justice would come from God Almighty, the aggrieved PDP leaders must speak out against injustice as their silence could be taken for consent to the alleged injustice
Also speaking the Chairman, PDP Board of Trustees, Senator Walif Jubrin noted that the alleged injustice in Imo State was not only done to PDP but the entire Nigerians, stressing that the party had not recovered from the alleged injustice
Furthermore, the 2019 PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar argued that the PDP and the G34 fought and brought democracy to Nigeria.
Atiku called for the constitution of a committee to review what happened at the last election and make necessary recommendations, adding that the roles of the Independent National Electoral Commission and security agencies should not be taken for granted.
In his words: “Our party governed very well from 1999 to 2015. As true democrats, we handed over party to the ruling party, hoping that it will deepen democracy, alas we have been disappointed.”
