Chelsea Cannot Hide Her Goal Scoring Problems

Tammy Abraham was kept quiet against Newcastle last Saturday as another setback stopped Chelsea from putting pressure on Leicester in third place and also putting more daylight between the Blues and Manchester United who are fifth.

After Tammy Abraham spurned two chances in the game. It has become evident that Chelsea do not have another worthy striker to help them win games when Abraham doesn’t perform well.

The Chelsea team against Newcastle didn’t have enough quality to break down the defense of the opponents and slot the ball into the back of the net. Other strikers in the form of Olivier Giroud and Michy Batshuayi haven’t also been impressive this season and they have been deprived of sufficient playing time. From the look of things, Frank Lampard is perturbed by the inability of his strikers to deliver when it matters most.

Although, Tammy Abraham has kept Chelsea’s UEFA Champions League hopes alive, there is still a missing piece in the attack. Willian has been doing more of creating chances than scoring goals, Pulisic has declined in the goalscoring aspect after starting the season well, Calum Hudson Odoi isn’t accustomed to scoring goals as his first English Premier League goal came in the recent game against Burnley.

However, criticisms have been allocated to Tammy Abraham over his inability to score against big teams after over five attempts.

He got the winner against Arsenal at the Emirates, but the Gunners have been a shadow of themselves this season. The North London side are currently struggling to make an impact this season and aren’t really regarded as a big side.

Long gone are the days when Chelsea had reliable striking weapons in the form of Didier Drogba and Diego Costa and the goals rained with reckless abandon.
