No Evidence To Back TI Ranking Of Corruption In Nigeria – Malami

The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr. Abubakar Malami, SAN has dismissed the report of Transparency International showing the country slipping two positions down in the ranking of the Corruption Perception Index, CPI.

Nigeria slipped from 144 to 146 in the latest Transparency International ranking of graft bringing into question the administration’s much-vaunted fight against the menace.

Reacting to the report on Thursday, Malami said the report was out of sync with the efforts of the Buhari administration in fighting graft noting what he said were bold efforts in recoveries and legislative support.

“Empirical evidence relating to legislative support, empirical evidence relating to recoveries, empirical evidence relating to enforcement, empirical evidence relating to all indices of the fight against corruption do not support the conclusion of the report of Transparency International,” Malami said in an interview on Channels Television monitored by GreenWhiteGreen.
