Sanwo-Olu Under Fire Over Okada Ban

The ban of commercial motorcycles and tricycles in six local government areas in Lagos State has sparked outrage on social media, especially Twitter.

Those who reacted to the development lambasted overnor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for initiating the policy.

The Lagos State Government, in a statement, on Monday, through the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Gbenga Omotosho announced a ban on the operations of commercial motorcycles and tricycles in six local government areas and nine local council development areas starting from February 1st, 2020.

Since the announcement of the ban, social media has been awash with comments from Lagosians on the implications of the ban on their socio-economic activities, while business analysts have continued to highlight the implications of the ban on organized motorcycle ventures like Opay and Gokada.

Sanwo-Olu is well on his way to not being given a second term just like his predecessor Ambode, with this Okada and Keke ban. Obviously, a lot of people are going to lose their jobs. What are they supposed to do now ? Turn to armed robbery ? #okadaBan #LagosStateGovernment

I am not against the Govt banning Opay, Gokada, Keke or Okada, my problem is before placing this ban what other means of transportation have they put in place first to aid the citizens? Nigeria govt do things without considering the welfare of their citizens so bad.
