The dismissal, however, fueled speculations of a widening in the relationship between Governor Bello and Onoja who had been famously reputed as the engine room of the governor in his first term.
The dismissal of Dr. Ottah was being linked to the widening of positions between the governor and his deputy based on the fact that the former chief of protocol was recruited for the governor in the first term by Chief Onoja.
“Even though Dr. Ottah was very good at his job but the problem arose from the fact that he was recruited for the governor by his deputy who was his stabilizing power in the first term,” a source in Lokoja familiar with the development said.
“You know it is dangerous not to have your own man as your chief of protocol. The Chief of Protocol knows every movement of the governor and you cannot have someone appoint him for you,” the source said.
Even more, it was gathered that unlike in the past when the governor left the appointments to his deputy that the governor took a major role in the appointment of the new set of commissioners.
