The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has asked the Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma to supply the headquarters with compelling proof that senior Staff of the Commission in the South-East belong to the opposition party.

Uzodinma had alleged in a statement that   has been reported on social media urging INEC in the South-east to remain neutral.

According to Uzodinma  “All INEC senior Staff in the Southeast are obviously PDP carrying members to the extent that once a result is not in the favour of the PDP, it will go all out to upturn the result”.

The governor further stated that his decision to o to the Supreme Court was based on INEC’s decision to exclude his votes saying the commission then worked for the PDP candidate.

But INEC speaking through the Chief Press Secretary to the National Chairman, Rotimi Oyekanmi stated that casting aspersions on the Commission cannot deter it from doing the right thing.

The commission said,, “it is quite surprising that Mr Hope Uzodinma is affirming that all INEC senior staff in the South East are card carrying members of a political party.

“How did he come to that conclusion? The Commission will be grateful if he could supply the INEC headquarters with the compelling proof of that allegation so that action can be taken”.

He insisted that the commission would continue to do the right thing in spite criticism from politicians .

“The Commission will continue to discharge its constitutional responsibilities without fear and favour.”
