BREAKING: Edo Guber Holds Sept 19, Ondo Oct 10 As INEC Deregisters 74 Parties

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has scheduled the Edo and Ondo State governorship elections to hold on September 19 and October 10 respectively.

The chairman of INEC, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, INEC chairman, announced this in a press conference in Abuja on Thursday.

He also disclosed that 74 political parties in the country had been deregistered by the commission because of their failure to meet various criteria stipulated by the constitution during the elections.

He said that with the development only 18 political parties are now recognized by the commission.
