Nigerian Aviation Handling Company PLC (NAHCO) has dissociated itself from the staff recently arrested with $8.6million by the Nigeria Customs Service at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA).

The two NAHCO personnel believed to be drivers were nabbed on Tuesday while moving the cash into the airport.

It was learnt that the cash which was starched inside an official vehicle owned by NAHCO was being smuggled into the airport by the suspected NAHCO staff before it was intercepted.

The arrest of the two personnel was confirmed by the Comptroller-General of Customs, Col. Hameed Ali, (rtd), who had displayed the intercepted foreign currencies at a press conference in Lagos that day.

However, NAHCO in a brief statement on Thursday said the seizure has nothing to do with the company.

It Said, “We wish to state unequivocally that NAHCO as an organisation has dissociated itself and has no connection whatsoever with this alleged act.”
