The Nigerian Police deserve loud encomiums for successfully neutralising the Ansaru terrorist gang operating along the Birnin-Gwari axis of Kaduna State, the Buhari Media Organisation (BMO) has said.

The group affirmed that the nefarious activities of the undesirable elements had reached a tipping point with rampant kidnappings, cattle rustling, banditry and killings along the Kaduna-Zaria road, Abuja-Lokoja road and Abuja-Kaduna road.

In a statement signed by its Chairman Niyi Akinsiju and Secretary Cassidy Madueke, BMO said the bandits had also constituted a serious threat to the security of travellers along these routes and thus generated apprehension and fear among the travelling public.

“The brutalities of these criminal gangs also extended to the homes, schools and seminaries of law-abiding Nigerians.

“We, therefore, commend the Nigerian Police for bringing succour to Nigerians with the recent counter-terrorism operation they carried out which led to the successful killing of some members of Ansaru Terrorist group.

“With the successful operation, the Police have uprooted the terrorist groups from their stronghold and recovered a large cache of arms and ammunitions.

“We note also that the police have accomplished significant milestones in the fight against terrorists with the arrest of 992 criminals, recovery of 60 vehicles in 2019 by the Federal Capital Territory Command. Similar feats have also been achieved across the 36 states of the federation.”

“The group is of the opinion that the police under the leadership of Inspector General of Police (IGP) M.A Adamu is exhibiting uncommon gallantry and courage in tackling insecurity in the country.

“We are confident that with the measures already in place the spate of robbery, cultism, homicide, impersonation, kidnapping, culpable homicide and rape will be reduced to the barest minimum and the country will be safer”.
