Ekiti Police Boss Expresses Concern Over Influx Of Okada Riders

The Ekiti State commissioner of police, Asuquo Amba, has expressed concern over the influx of commercial motorcycles (Okada) in the state

Amaba noted that some Okada operators were using their motorcycles for criminal activities ranging from stealing, armed robbery and kidnapping.

The police commissioner, in a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer for the state command, Sunday Abutu, noted that “These suspected persons, in their multitude, are in the state with motorcycles, pretending to be commercial motorcyclists popularly called Okada.”

He also warned landlords and caretakers to know the background details of their tenants to avoid harbouring criminals.

He noted “CP Asuquo has directed that all motorcycles across the state must be properly registered with the relevant authorities and relevant document of ownership/registration.

“to promptly report to the nearest Police station or call the Police Control Room on 08062335577 whenever they see any person or group of persons suspected to be criminals around their environs.

“Landlords and caretakers are also advised to know the proper identities of their present and future tenants to avoid harboring criminals.

“The command solicits the supports and cooperation of the public and wish to assure the good people of Ekiti State of firm commitment to sustain the fight against crimes and criminality which has brought about the peace currently being enjoyed by the state.”
