By Ekene Dike
Another feather was added to the hat of Asisat Oshoala after winning the Spanish Women’s Super Copa with FC Barcelona Femeni on Sunday. She helped propel her side into a 10-1 victory over Sociedad as she scored two goals and provided an assist.
She has now won the Nigerian FA Cup, Nigerian League, English FA Cup, Chinese Super League and Spanish Super Cup. The Nigerian international has experienced the euphoria of winning trophies with all the clubs she has played for.
The goal scoring machine scored the winner in her side’s 3-2 win over Atletico Madrid in the semi-final of the competition and secured passage through to the final. This was her first major trophy for Barcelona women after joining over a year ago. She has been one of the standout performers alongside Netherlands’ Lieke Mertens.
Their combination upfront has caused havoc for the defense of opposing sides and Oshoala has scored 19 goals in 22 matches so far this season. Her ostentatious display of skills has also put her on the radar of other European clubs.
It is noteworthy that she mesmerized everyone when she scored four goals against Tacon on Saturday, January 11, 2020 after she was named as the African Women’s Player Of The Year for the fourth time.
Consistency, hard work, dedication and passion are the condiments of preparing a delicious meal of football success and the 25-year-old possesses all of them. She is in the mood to finish what she has started and is ready to accept the challenge of reaching the apex point of female football.
