Traditional Rulers Will Have Key Role In Amotekun

Recruitment Of personnel for the Western Security Network Agency codenamed Amotekun has started in Ondo State, a senior aide to the governor has disclosed. The disclosure came with the revelation that traditional rulers will play key roles in the operation of the security outfit.

Special Adviser to the state governor on security matters, Alhaji Jimoh Dojumo told Vanguard that traditional rulers and community leaders would stand as guarantors to those to be engaged into the security outfit.

Meanwhile, the State House of Assembly has promised accelerated hearing and quick passage of draft bill of the Ondo State Security Network Agency and Amotekun Corps codenamed “Operation Amotekun” approved by the Ondo State Executive Council on Wednesday.

The speaker of the state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Bamidele Oloyelogun said the legislature attaches importance to the bill in the interest of the people of the state.

He said the assembly members who are presently on recess will cut short their recess to attend to the bill.

Commissioner for information and Orientation in the state, Donald Ojogo in a statement in Akure announced the approval of the draft bill.

Ojogo said ”In an exhaustive session of deliberations, Council took time to peruse every detail contained in the Bill that was presented by the State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Kola Olawoye, SAN and it is now ready to be transmitted to the state House of Assembly for passage.

“The Draft Bill has 6 Parts and 44sections. It is also gratifying to disclose that every apprehension or fears expressed have been adequately looked into.

“This is even as Traditional Rulers will now have roles to play in the operations of the security outfit pursuant to its passage into law by the State Assembly.”
