Nigerians Lampoon Senate Bill To Pamper Repentant Boko Haram Insurgents

A bill, to create a Federal agency to take care of repentant members of Boko Haram, which was tabled on Thursday, on floor of the Senate, has sparked outrage on the microblogging platform, Twitter.

The bill, which was sponsored by Senator Ibrahim Gaidam, Yobe East senatorial district, was read on the floor of the Senate for the first time, on Thursday.

Nigerians, who have reacted to the development, expressed dissatisfaction towards what they referred to as ‘fair’ treatment for repentant members of Boko Haram, who had committed several atrocities.

Sequel to this recent development, no fewer than 608 repentant Boko Haram insurgents are undergoing the De-radicalisation, Rehabilitation and Reintegration (DRR) programme under the Operation Safe Corridor in Malam-Sidi, Gombe State.

Some Twitter users opined that the Federal Government-led by President Muhammadu Buhari is pampering the insurgents.
