Nigerians Lampoon Senate Bill To Pamper Repentant Boko Haram Insurgents

A bill, to create a Federal agency to take care of repentant members of Boko Haram, which was tabled on Thursday, on floor of the Senate, has sparked outrage on the microblogging platform, Twitter.

The bill, which was sponsored by Senator Ibrahim Gaidam, Yobe East senatorial district, was read on the floor of the Senate for the first time, on Thursday.

Nigerians, who have reacted to the development, expressed dissatisfaction towards what they referred to as ‘fair’ treatment for repentant members of Boko Haram, who had committed several atrocities.

Sequel to this recent development, no fewer than 608 repentant Boko Haram insurgents are undergoing the De-radicalisation, Rehabilitation and Reintegration (DRR) programme under the Operation Safe Corridor in Malam-Sidi, Gombe State.

Some Twitter users opined that the Federal Government-led by President Muhammadu Buhari is pampering the insurgents.

What bills have they introduced to help Civilian & Military victims?

What have they introduced to help families of service wo/men who have been maimed or have paid the supreme price?

Come to think about it, who are the people that would work in this agency? Imagine the DG being a so called repentant BH member. This govt is seriously working hard to see that a "repentant" BH fighter becomes the president of Nigeria in the nearest future.
