The Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Adulrasheed Akanbi has made a U-turn in his decision not to respect the suspension slammed on him by the Osun State Council of Traditional Rulers.

The Oluwo, in a video shared on social media and seen by GreenwhiteGreen, had described the suspension as ‘audio suspension’ (A slang that means fake), vowing not to respect the decision of the council.

His assertion followed his suspension for six months by the Osun State Council of Traditional Rulers for alleged disregard for the traditional institution.

The sanction followed the confrontation between the Oluwo and Agboowu of Ogbaagba, Dhikrulahi Akinropo, last week, in which it was alleged that Oluwo hit Akinropo.

Following his earlier reaction not to respect the sanction on him and to make himself available at the next meeting of the council, the Oluwo on Monday made a surprising reversal.

In a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Alli Ibraheem, he affirmed that he never assaulted the Agbowu of Ogbaagbaa.

Part of the statement reads;

“The Oluwo in council regrets the unfortunate incident that transpired between the Agbowu of Ogbaagbaa and Oluwo of Iwo last week. We will also like to put it on record that the Oluwo did not at anytime assault the Agbowu or any other oba for that matter”.

“However, we respect the decision of the Osun State Council of Obas to suspend the Oluwo from council of Obas meetings; though the suspension was harsh and undeserved, the Oluwo will abide by it”.

“Once again we express our gratitude and respect for the council of Obas and the leadership under the imperial majesty, the Ooni Of Ife, Babatunde Enitan Ogunwusi.”
