Insecurity: Monarchs Urge Deltans To Be Vigilant, Laud Okowa
Concerned about the worsening security situation across the country, Nigerians have been told to be more vigilant and security conscious in their daily activities.
Rising from the first quarterly meeting for the year in Asaba, Delta traditional rulers, in a five point communiqué, described the spate of insecurity in the country as worrisome and tasked security agencies to be more responsive in protecting the lives and properties of Nigerians.
The chairman of Delta council of Traditional Rulers and Obi of Owa, Dr Emmanuel Efeizomor 11 flanked by the Pere of Akugbene Mien Kalanama V111, specifically challenged security agencies to introduce new and aggressive crime preventive and detective strategies geared towards curtailing the activities of criminal elements in Delta State and the Country at large.
While emphasizing that information and intelligence gathering were key components in the fight against crime and criminality, the Delta monarchs appealed to Nigerians to always volunteer useful and timely information to security agencies to enable them act swiftly in nipping the nefarious tendencies of criminals in the bud.
The Royal Fathers commended Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for his numerous assistance to security forces in Delta state especially the recent presentation of 35 operational vehicles to the police and other security agencies to enhance the sustenance of peace and security.
The Monarchs appreciated the Governor’s performance and passed a vote of confidence on him and his Deputy in the area of peace building, spread of democracy dividends and general development of the state.
The council members hailed the inauguration of 63 Nigerian Army Headquarters in Asaba by the Chief of Army Staff, General Tukur Buratai.
Special prayers were offered for the chairman of the council, Dr. Emmanuel Efeizomor 11 who attained 61 years on the throne within the week. The meeting was attended by prominent traditional rulers across the three senatorial districts including the Dein of Agbor, Keagborekuzi 1 Obi of Abavo, Uche Irenuma II and Ovie of Agbon Clan Ukori 1 among others.
