Oshiomhole’s Foe Bids To Take Over As National Chairman

The deputy national chairman, North of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Senator Lawali Shuaibu has debunked insinuations of his suspension from office asserting his continued sustenance in office.

Shuaibu was suspended by the Comrade Adams Oshiomhole led National Working Committee, NWC in June 2019 following his loud criticism of the handling of party affairs by the national chairman.

His suspension was, however, never ratified by the National Executive Committee, NEC of the party. Senator Shuaibu who is about the oldest in office among the NWC members, however, kept low and kept away from party affairs presided over by Oshiomhole.

He served in the same capacity as Deputy National Chairman of the party during the Chief John Odigie-Oyegun tenure and was a key member of the merger committee that birthed the APC.

Debunking insinuations that he was suspended, Senator Shuaibu in a statement made available to GreenWhiteGreen asked anyone in doubt about his position to confirm his status with the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

“There is nowhere under the constitution of the APC where either the National Working Committee, NWC, under Article 13.4 nor the national chairman under Article 14 is empowered to discipline, much less suspending any member of the party. Thus, the purported suspension only exists in the purveyors of the misinformation including Mr. Oshiomhole.

“Furthermore, at no point was even an ordinary memo tabled at any of the relevant executive organs of the party with disciplinary powers, right from the ward to the National Executive Council. In addition, at no time and up to this moment have I been served with any letter of suspension.

“In the circumstances, this is to clarify the misgivings flying around and to put the record straight for all and sundry. Our party is governed by the constitution and not by whims and caprices of one warlord.

“For the avoidance of doubt, every Nigerian is free to write to the regulatory commission, INEC, and request to have the current list of current national officers of the party.”

Should the enemies circling around Oshiomhole have their way, Senator Shuaibu could as the next in rank be positioned to act in the office of national chairman.
