Jubilation Follows First Outing By New Kano Emir
The 15th emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero has made his first public outing with jubilating supporters heralding his entourage.
Bayero’s first outing after his appointment according to tradition was a visit to his mother in her personal residence.
His mother was the wife of the 13th emir of Kano, Alhaji Abdullahi Ado Bayero who reigned between 1963 and 2014. Bayero was succeeded by Emir Mahammud Sanusi II who was deposed on Monday.
Ahead of his first public outing, thousands of his supporters converged on his personal residence at Mandawari quarters early on Tuesday from where they went to his mother’s residence in the heart of Kano.
His supporters drummed and sang as the convoy moved in a procession for the traditional first outing of the emir.
Bayero was appointed the Emir of Kano on Monday following the deposition of Sanusi who reigned from 2014 to 2020.
Sanusi in a video message to his former subjects said that he had accepted his fate and asked them to support his successor.
