Covid:19: Taraba To Secure Border With Cameroon
The Taraba Government on Monday announced that it had intensified safety measures at major borders with the Republic of Cameroon, to ward off the possible spread of COVID-19 in the state.
Nigeria’s border with Cameroon runs for 1,975 kilometers from Borno to Cross River out which Taraba contributes 107 kilometers. That is the estimated distance from Lagos to Ibadan.
Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mr Danjuma Adamu, disclosed this at a media briefing in Jalingo.
Adamu said the measure became necessary following the discovery of new cases of COVID-19 in the country and the need to take proactive measures to prevent the spread of the virus in the State.
According to him, government has directed that public and private schools in the state should be closed by Tuesday March 24.
He explained that the Ministry of Health had procured hand sanitisers to be placed at strategic locations in the state for use by members of the public.
The Information Commissioner advised members of the public to prioritise personal hygiene as a measure to prevent the spread of the virus.
