There was outrage on twitter on Friday after an Iranian born Islamic leader, Imam Mohammad Tawhidi dragged President Muhammadu Buhari for perceived failures in government.

The Imam was fiercely rebuked by supporters of the president leading to a twitter fight that led him into more severe criticisms of the president.

The Australian based Imam had initially accused the president of ignorance of the virus that causes the COVID-19 disease mocking the president’s intonation when he spoke about it.

However, perceived supporters of the president rebuked him accusing him among others of being a foreign agent and a fake Imam.

The Imam returned with more blistering criticisms of the president accusing him of incompetence and of failing to deal with the terrorism that has scared the country in the last few years.

Several Nigerians including the well known Buhari critic, Reno Omokiri inevitably entered the fray with some backing the Imam asserting that he spoke the mind of many Nigerians. There were others, however, who fired back and spoke in strong defence of the president.

GreenWhiteGreen gathered some of the tweets.

Responding to a tweet that he was a Shia agent and an associate of Sheikh El-Zakzaky, he said:
