Outrage has trailed the killing of one Joseph Pessu in Warri, Delta State who was allegedly shot by men of the Armed forces enforcing the lockdown directive in the area.

Due to the Coronavirus outbreak, Federal and State Governments have ordered for restriction of movements, in a bid to halt the spread of the deadly virus. Hence the deployment of Armed forces to the streets for enforcement.

When the news of the murder of Pessu by Armed forces appeared on the microblogging platform, Twitter users lamented over the inhumane treatment meted out at citizens by Armed forces, during this period of Coronavirus lockdown.

Some Twitter users argued that the armed forces were not meant to enforce lockdown or engage with citizens on the streets and that the duty should have been left for the police.

Reacting to the development, Minister of State, Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo (SAN), also took to his official Taiye account, to condemn the killing of Pessu, while promising to send a petition to the relevant authorities.
