Governor Darius Ishaku of Taraba State has explained the circumstances of a domestic accident that led him to spend the first three months of the year out of the state.

Speaking in an interview following his return to the state, Ishaku explained that governors like everyone else were all humans prone to accidents and frailties of life.

He explained that his accident happened when there was a power cut as he was running up the stairs leading him to trip and fall down the stairs.

“And I want all of you journalists and indeed Nigerians that we are all humans. That I am a governor I am not superhuman.

“I made a mistake by running up the steps when they took the light at 8 p.m. so I fell and rolled down and that created a crisis for me which I never anticipated.

“All of us are like that. Accidents can happen to anybody anytime, anywhere. So when you glorify it and start singing music, it doesn’t help you

“I want to assure that I am healing very well and that nothing has stopped moving in the state and nothing will stop moving,” he said.

“I made a mistake by running up the steps when they took the light at 8 p.m. so I fell and rolled down and that created a crisis for me which I never anticipated.

The governor thanked members of the executive, legislative and judicial arms of government for keeping watch in his absence even as he affirmed that he was in daily contact with officials from Abuja while he was away.

“I want to thank members of the House of Assembly who gave me their support by the confidence they reserved in me, the judiciary and I want to thank the security agencies from the police, civil defence to the military.

“All of them have performed very well. The rate of crime has reduced unlike what your colleagues were reporting; that I wasn’t in the state and that nothing is working. It is a lie.”
