Edo PDP Proffers Bailout For Hotels
By GWG Staff
The Edo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has called for a special bailout for the hospitality industry in the state on account of the lockdown that it claimed has put the industry to near coma.
Chairman of the party, Dr. Tony Aziegbemi in a statement observed that it would take more than the government’s present handout of noodles and two cups of rice to check the social disorder caused by the lockdown.
He said:
“As a result of Coronavirus and government knee-jerk reaction in tackling it, an unemployment catastrophe is about to be unleashed on Edo state.
“Consequently, Edo PDP advises that the government as a matter of urgency, stem this ugly trend. We suggest that hotels should be given a “bail out” fund.
Modalities and protocol for qualification should include but not limited to:
1. Staff strength maintained
2. Social distancing policy in place
3. Proper Accounting and Bookkeeping practice
4. Evidence of tax payments (Payee Remittance)
“There is no better palliative than making sure that our youths remain in employment.
Edo state government must support those that keep our youths off the streets. Noodles and 2 cups of rice won’t cut it!”
