Tears & Joy In Lagos: 3 Die, 16 Cured Of COVID-19

It was sadness and joy for Lagos on Thursday as the state authorities announced the discharge of 16 COVID-19 patients from its facilities following their full recovery.

That announcement was followed by the revelation of the death of three patients including a doctor who caught the virus from a patient.

Prof. Akin Abayomi, Lagos State Commissioner for Health, made this announcement via his Twitter handle on Thursday.

The development brought the total number of discharged patients in the state to 85.

Nigeria Center for Disease Control, on Wednesday evening, announced that 18 new cases of the virus were recorded in the state.

According to the health commissioner, the state also recorded 3 additional deaths, the deceased were aged 51, 52 and 62.

“Unfortunately, Lagos recorded 3 additional deaths from #COVID19 related complications. The deceased are males aged 51, 52 and 62. 

“One of the dead; a medical doctor had contact with an infected person who recently returned to the country.

“Other victims have no travel history or record of contact with any infected person.Total #COVID19 related deaths are now 10,” he tweeted.

This brings the total number of the deaths in the state to 10.

“The cheering news however is that 16 fully recovered #COVID19 patients have been discharged following further  screening that confirmed their status negative.Total number of discharged #COVID19 patients in Lagos are now 85,” he wrote.
