The two Lagos based COVID-19 positive policemen who relocated to Ondo State for treatment may have to face the music when they come out of treatment it was revealed on Wednesday.

Spokesman of the Ondo State police command Tee Leo Ikoro speaking in an interview said the policemen like many civilians exploited the use of poorly policed routes into the state to slip into the state.

“They will not have good music to dance,” Ikoro said in an interview on TVC on Wednesday, even as he admitted that since they were from outside Ondo State he could not give a definitive assertion on their liability.

The possible trial he said could be justified unless they were able to prove they were not on illegal duty.

The two policemen had caused outrage in Ondo State after they were discovered to have tested positive in Lagos State but relocated to Ondo apparently after they failed to get treatment in Lagos.

Noting the effort of the Ondo State Police Command to check the activities of those slipping into the state through irregular routes, he said:

“When the commissioner of police discovered that they were now taking irregular roads, we had to deploy more men to those irregular roads.”

He said that the police command was, however, not detaining those apprehended entering the state rather all those caught were regularly taken to the border to return to where they came from.

“We have made some arrests and our commissioner has his way of doing his things. To ensure social distancing and avoid packing them in detention, we take them back to the border from where they are coming from so they are made to do double journey as punishment,” the police spokesman said.
