Adesina Under Fire For Attacking Principal On Air

President Muhammadu Buhari’s chief spokesman, Chief Femi Adesina has again come under attack on social media for what many Nigerians described on Wednesday as his arrogant disposition to suggestions and criticisms of the president.

 The hullabaloo followed an appearance by Adesina in a call-in session on Nigeria Info FM when he told a school principal who identified himself as Mr. Ibikunle “not to continue to sound like a broken record.”

Mr. Ibikunle had asked why the president was not engaging in media chats to speak with Nigerians.

“As a school principal, I run a school, any time I come to the assembly ground. I ginger the spirit of my students. I want to ask Mr. Femi Adeshina and if he doesn’t have the answer, I want him to encourage the President to come out and speak to us.

He was abruptly interrupted by the anchor, who encouraged him to go straight to his question.

Mr. Ibikunle then asked, “when is the president coming out to address us, I mean to have a media chat with the press so that from there he can speak to us?”

Responding, Adesina said, “I just want to encourage Mr Ibikunle not to continue to sound like a broken record.”

He further said that Buhari had addressed the nation thrice within the period of one month, saying that what else do Nigerians want?

The presidential spokesperson argued that because Nigerians elected Buhari to office does not necessarily mean that they would dictate everything for him or control. A statement that was entirely faulted by Twitter users.

He said, “When this COVID thing began, president should talk to us, the president should talk to us he has had three national broadcasts within a month, what else do they want?

“People think because either you elected a president or you didn’t elect him, you must lead your president by the nose. It doesn’t happen.

“Because you elected a man then you begin to order him around. The president would do whatever is good for the country any given time.”

In another short video clip that has appeared on Twitter, another caller asked him, why the president’s speech are not live and usually appeared on social media even before the president started the broadcast?

Adesina argued that the raw draft of the last president speech, on April 27th, 2020, was released on the social media by mischief makers, adding that not all presidential speeches are live.

The short video clips of Adeshina’s conversation on Nigeria Info FM, has generated reactions from many Twitter users, who argued that the presidential spokesperson is arrogant in his conversation with Nigerians.
