By Ayodele Oluwafemi
Controversial On-Air Personality, Toke Makinwa has weighed in on the online tithe/first fruit debate, saying since she started paying her tithe/first fruit, her business has witnessed upliftment.
Toke Makinwa argued that paying of tithe and first fruit was a personal conviction, noting that for her, doing it has become a way of forming a partnership with God.
In a series of tweets posted on her Twitter handle, Makinwa noted that her partnership with God has not failed her, irrespective of the stumbling block encountered.
“The power of “first fruit”, while I think paying tithes/giving your first fruit is a personal journey/conviction, I can’t help but boast in God. Every business venture I have ever gone into, I pay my first fruit not because he needs it, but it’s my way of partnering with God,” she tweeted.
In recent times, the argument about tithing has generated heated debate especially with the movement led by another controversial radio personality, Ifedayo Olarinde popularly called Daddy Freeze.
Daddy Freeze has criticized the payment of tithe/first fruit by Christians while lambasting Nigerian pastors who encouraged their members to pay their tithe and give to God.
Toke’s assertion has been greeted with mixed reactions from some of her followers. While some welcomed her claim, one of her followers, nevertheless warned her that Daddy Freeze would be coming for her.
