Kaduna Vs Kano: El-Rufai, Ganduje Followers Fight
By Ayodele Oluwafemi
The long-expected comparison between Kano and Kaduna and their governors, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje and Mallam Nasir El-Rufai has snowballed into a social media fight.
It was long expected, especially after Dr. Ganduje sarcastically dismissed the immediate past emir of Kano, Mallam Muhammad Sanusi who is a bosom friend of El-Rufai’s. El-Rufai had in a sharp retort to Ganduje given the dismissed emir two high profile jobs in Kaduna State.
Even more, El-Rufai went to meet Sanusi in Nasarawa State where he was banished and fetched him to Abuja from where he relocated to Lagos.
The response of the two states since the advent of the COVID-19 pandemic was, however, the point of attraction for many twitter users as they considered the different approaches by the two governors.
El-Rufai was quick to clamp a total lockdown on Kaduna State, a decision that may have minimized the effect of the pandemic in the state.
Ganduje on the other hand had denied the impact until the embarrassing high profile deaths forced the federal intervention and a rethink on the part of his government.
Kaduna and Kano are undeniably the two most dominant states in the North.
Kaduna is the political capital of the North and the famed home of the Kaduna Mafia, a mythical analogy that weaved the saying that every important Northerner has a house in Kaduna!
Kano, on the other hand, is the commercial capital of the North, which supplies the economic nourishment for the region and beyond. It is also blessed with some of the richest businessmen in the North with the likes of Aliko Dangote, Abdulsamad Rabiu, BUA the Dantata Clan among others.
However recent stances in the political leadership and developments in the two states have led to social media quarrel between citizens and lovers of the two states.
Some Twitter users in a trend, #KanoVsKaduna, have drawn comparisons between personalities that come from the two states, achievements of their governors, infrastructural development, and others.
