Kudos, Knocks As Kogi Distills Bello’s Tribunal Win
By GWG Staff
The decision of the Kogi State Election Tribunal on Saturday to affirm the election of Governor Yahaya Bello has understandably been received with mixed feelings across the different political spheres in the state.
Supporters of Governor Bello were understandably ecstatic rejoicing and indeed at some points finding it difficult to keep the social distancing policies of the governor when they gathered at the Government House, Lokoja.
Bello prevailed over Musa Wada, his Peoples Democratic Party, PDP rival in a 2-1 split judgment.
While several associates of the governor have been pouring out congratulations and commendations, the PDP on its part while commending the dissenting judgment has vowed to appeal.
Supporters and dissenters of the judgment have also taken to social media to ventilate their opinion on the judgment.
While supporters of the governor lauded it as a sound judgment and asked the PDP to bury its head in shame, critics of the governor while recollecting the violence and insecurity that characterized the election have been quick to dismiss the electoral superiority of the governor. Particular mention has been made of the late PDP woman leader who was killed just after the election as evidence of the malpractises that shadowed the election.
