27% Drop In New Cases As Imo Rises 2,700%

New cases of COVID-19 across Nigeria declined by 27% day to day on Monday as 229 cases were recorded across 15 states and the FCT. The new cases brought the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 8,068 since the advent of the pandemic in the country last February.
Seven deaths were also reported by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC in its daily report of the pandemic in the country.
The reduction in total number of cases was helped by the 39% drop in the number of new cases reported by Lagos which has been the hotbed of the pandemic in the country.
The nation’s commercial centre reported 90 new cases down from the 148 reported on Sunday.
However, there was apprehension over one of the biggest one day jump in new cases as Imo which reported no case on Sunday reported 26 cases, one case less than the 27 case reported by Katsina. The rise in Imo represented a 2,600% rise in the number of cases in the state.
