How UNIBEN Girl Was Raped, Battered In Church

Details are emerging how a 23-year old student of the University of Benin, Edo State, Uwaila Omozuwa died on Saturday after she was raped by yet to be identified men in a church building in Depot, Ikpoba Hill, Benin

The victim, who was a 100 level student of Uniben had gone to the church to study on Wednesday, 27 May, 2020 as had been her practice. However, on that day she was attacked by hoodlums who beat, raped and hit her head with a fire extinguisher before abandoning her in a pool of blood, thinking she was dead.

According to our source, the  church security man went to the pastor of the church on the Wednesday to collect the church key, but was told that somebody was in the church.

When he got to the church he, however, saw Uwaila in a pool of blood and ran back to inform the pastor and his wife, who all ran to the church and saw her in pool of blood

“When we  got to  the church, we thought she was dead, but later found out  she was moving her hand. That was how we moved her to the hospital. It was from there that she was taken to the UBTH, Benin, but unfortunately she died yesterday (Saturday) at about 10.15pm, the source said.

The police was as at press time on Sunday yet to respond to the development.
