Oshiomhole, Ize-Iyamu: Heart Of The Matter

But for my little knowledge of the situation, I would have concluded that Comrade Adams Oshiomhole is a frontline candidate in the 2020 Edo State governorship election. No day passes by without one story or the other about him.

Does Oshiomhole posses more than one voting right? No. Does he work with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)? No. So, what is it with Oshiomhole that he dominates talks ahead of the election? Does he posses the supernatural power to direct Edo sons and daughters on who to vote for? Not now; not tomorrow.

Here is a former governor who did his bit for his people and enjoys tremendous goodwill across the state. His reputation has given his detractors a lot to worry about. They are desperate and restless. Anything they can throw up just to alter public opinion to their favour would be right and fair.

But, why would they have to bring in Oshiomhole’s name in all they do and say. The answer is simple. Their inability to fulfill their empty campaign promises has become their greatest undoing. So, at this point, any hide and seek game, any diversionary tactics or cheap antics would be fine and perfect.

In marketing his candidate in the 2016 election, Comrade Oshiomhole said Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu should not be trusted with public funds. This is the heart of the matter. On this statement, they want to resurrect their already abandoned campaign. They are happy.

Chief Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Chief Bisi Akande, were very critical of President Buhari before 2015. They both had a re-think as all humans do, and today, both are one of President Buhari greatest admirers. Same with Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, who in 2011, held former president Goodluck Jonathan’s hand, campaigning with him everywhere. Have you forgotten what happened later in 2015?

What about Femi Adeshina who in 2005 heavily criticized Prof. Ibrahim Gambari for defending the killing of Ken Saro-Wiwa by the Gen Sani Abacha government. Are they not working together today?

Who are we not to change our minds at the face of superior and obvious facts? Comrade Oshiomhole has moved on. He’s now in the same political party with Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu.

The detractors must accept the new reality and face the fact that their biggest problem today is not Oshiomhole nor Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu. Their problem is their inability to fulfill  NONE of their 11 campaign promises. How pathetic!
