Peruzzi Recants Old Pro-Rape Tweets

Nigerian singer, Tobechukwu Okoh, popularly called Peruzzi has refuted the rape allegations against him, saying he has never raped anybody.

He has, however, apologised for comments he made in the distant past in which he appeared to have condoned the act.

His assertion nonetheless, music star, Davido has unfollowed him on Instagram

In recent days, rape allegations had been flying around the artiste on social media, following the outrage following the death of Vera Omozuwa, a student of University of Benin, who was raped and murdered by yet unidentified persons in a Benin church.

On Wednesday, a Twitter user, @jayamah22, with a handle that was created that same day, with the name, Princess accused Peruzzi of raping her, eight years ago, when she visited the artiste with her friend, she identified as “Aisha” who was the artiste’s girlfriend at that time.

She alleged that she slept on the same bed with Aisha and Peruzzi with the girlfriend in between them.

Princess said she decided to open up due to the boldness of some rape victims who have exposed their rapists.

@Jayamah22 tweeted: “Let’s expose these rapists for who they are, they have no right to take advantage of us. Say no to rape. Say no to rapists. SurvivingPeruzzi.

“So one time in 2012, I can’t really remember the date and the month. But I accompanied a friend “Aisha” to 1004. And as at then, I think she had a thing with Peruzzi, I accompanied her there, we spent a night that day and I happened to stay in the same room with Aisha and Peruzzi.

“In the night, he started touching me without my consent, I tried to tell him that that’s wrong and besides he had a girlfriend lying in between.

“So I left the room and went to sleep in the mini-parlour upstairs, I had to leave the room because I wasn’t comfortable anymore.”

Reacting to the allegation, in a series of tweets, on Thursday, Peruzzi claimed that a witness who was present at the time of the allegation has refuted the rape claim, noting that he does not condone rape.

“The claim is false and has also been refuted by a witness who was present at the time of the allegation. Rape is a heinous and cowardly act, which I do not condone,” he said.

When the rape allegation was made, screenshots of some tweets published by Peruzzi, 8 years ago, resurfaced, in which he glorified rape, reacting to this, the artiste apologized for making such statement, saying

“I’m ashamed and deeply apologetic for a series of tweets posted on social media 8 years ago. Those tweets were irresponsible and ill-informed. I was younger and didn’t fully grasp the implications of making such statements. They are neither a reflection of who I am then, or now.”
