PDP Grants Obaseki Waiver, Again Shifts Primary

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has granted the request for a waiver for Governor Godwin Obaseki to partake in its forthcoming governorship primaries.

The party in a series of tweets on Friday evening also disclosed that it had again shifted the primary earlier slated for Tuesday, June 23 to Thursday, June 25.

The party said:

The NWC in exercise of the above powers has ratified the application for waiver by the ward, local government & state executives of the party in Edo state and accordingly grants waiver to H. E. Governor @GovernorObaseki to enable him contest the gubernatorial primary of the PDP

Also the NWC has further shifted the Edo state governorship primary from an earlier slated date of Tuesday, June 23 to a new date of Thursday June 25, 2020.

Obaseki has become the leading contender for the PDP’s governorship ticket after switching from his former party to the PDP following his disqualification from the APC primary contest by the Adams Oshiomhole leadership.
