Alarm As S/South Produces 40% Of COVID-19 Cases

Nigeria recorded 661 new infections of the COVID-19 pandemic on Saturday just as 19 deaths pushed the total number of mortalities from the disease to 506.

While Lagos led the pack of the new cases of the disease, there was, however, a spike of the new cases in four states of the South-South with the former Bendel and Old Rivers States accounting for 40% of the new 661 new cases recorded on Saturday.

Lagos recorded 230 new cases, however, Rivers came second with 127 new cases, Delta had 83, Edo 31 while Bayelsa recorded 27 new cases.

Between the four states of the Niger Delta they recorded 268 incidents representing 41% of the new cases recorded on Saturday.

The new cases brought the total number of cases in the country to 19,808 with 6,718 discharged and 506 deaths.
