Men of the Nigeria Police have sealed off the secretariat of the All Progressives Congress, APC following the leadership dispute between contending factions of the party.
The police it was gathered acted on the orders of the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu. It is the second time in the last four months that the secretariat of the ruling party would be sealed off by security agencies.
Party officials who came to the secretariat were turned back while journalists and staff were allowed in but without their vehicles.
At the centre of the dispute are the tendencies led by the factional chairmen, Senator Abiola Ajimobi and Chief Victor Giadom who are respectively claiming leadership of the ruling party.
A delegation of the party’s governors had met President Muhammadu Buhari to intervene on the dispute but the delegation led by Governor Atiku Bagudu left without a firm promise by the president to intervene in the crisis.
The elected national chairman of the party, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole had been forced to go on suspension by the courts following his suspension by his ward in Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State.
