Buhari Names ‘Benin’ Man Chief Personal Security Officer

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Aliyu Abubakar Musa, as his Chief Personal Security Officer (CPSO).

A statement from the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu said that DCP Musa was until his appointment based in the Nigerian Police Force Zone 5, Benin City. He, however, hails from Niger State.

Musa’s appointment follows the redeployment of his predecessor, Commissioner of Police (CP) Abdulkarim Dauda.

The office of CPSO was a creation of the Goodluck Jonathan administration. It came about after Jonathan on appointment as Acting President and subsequently as substantive president was compelled to appoint a military officer as his ADC.

However, Jonathan did not want to completely dispense with the policeman who had acted as his ADC as vice-president. It was on that basis that the office of CPSO was created to accommodate him.
