By Ayodele Oluwafemi
A former President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Dr. Olisa Agbakoba (SAN) has distanced himself from the new political movement, the National Consultative Front.
The new political movement has been tagged as the third force, that will wrestle power from the two dominant political parties in the country – All Progressives Congress (APC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The movement, in a communiqué on Wednesday signed by Prof. Anthony Kila and Jibo Ibrahim had named Agbakoba, former Education Minister, Oby Ezekwesili, a former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Ghali Na’abba; human rights lawyer, Femi Falana; ex-deputy governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Obadiah Mailafia as members.”
However, the former NBA President, in a statement, on his Twitter handle, said he was not consulted to be part of the movement.
“My attention has been drawn to a widely circulated story that I am part of a new political movement known as the National Consultative Front.
“Without prejudice to the need for such a political movement, I want to place it on record that I was not consulted and so I am not part of the National Consultative Front,” he wrote.
