Oyo Dep Gov Barred From Ajimobi’s Fidau Prayer

The faceoff between the Abiola Ajimobi family and the Oyo State Government continued on Sunday when the deputy governor of the state, Rauf Olaniyan was physically locked out from the Eight Day Fidau prayers for the deceased immediate past governor of the state.

Sunday’s dramatic development followed the outburst by the family over the claim that the state government failed to show empathy with the family over their loss.

The Oyo State Government had, however, explained that the family was peeved over the failure of the Seyi Makinde Government to approve the family’s request for the former governor to be buried in a piece of land that is presently under dispute in the court.

Olaniyan had arrived the Oluyole, Ibadan residence of the former governor but was not allowed to pass through the street gate as the security men manning the gate insisted that only the deputy governor’s vehicle would be passed through and the remaining four vehicles would be made to stay away.

The agents stuck to their guns despite the intervention of a senior policeman. Olaniyan eventually moved on to the gate to the residence which was also locked. Despite being introduced by his aides the security agents said that they could not open the gate on claim that the key was with the widow, Mrs. Florence Ajimobi.

After standing for about 15 minutes at the gate the deputy governor turned around and went away.
