Anambra State Peoples Democratic Party, PDP governorship aspirant, Dr. Ifedi Okwena has called on his party to enthrone transparency in the nomination process saying the election is for the party to lose.

Okwena who served in the Peter Obi administration as commissioner for environment said that though the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA presently controlled the state, he said the PDP had the dominance including in elective federal positions.

He also recommended the party to adopt a candidate from Anambra South where he hails from saying that even if not constitutional but that moral justice required the party to throw the ticket to the zone.

“The APC is not a strong force in Anambra State and except you are talking of the situation where the party sometimes uses federal might and Oshiomhole is no longer there and that is no longer there,” Dr. Okwena who spoke in an interview on AIT said.

“If you are talking of the APC family in Anambra State today, they are not a major party,” he added saying that the APC was only strong because of its influence at the centre.

He also said that APGA had equally been decimated with the defection of most of its members to the PDP saying that he was among other chieftains of APGA who left the party for the PDP.

“Today what you know as APGA of yesterday are all PDP. What we feared or heard of APGA yesterday is now longer there. In fact Anambra is there for PDP to lose. If a fair primary is conducted today we will take over the state easily,” he said.
